In Tupi, the extinct local language of native South American tribes, Ucuuba means the butter tree.​

The tree, born close to the waters in Amazonia, has fruits with seeds that yield a naturally hydrating balm. The ancient natives discovered that this butter helped to heal the skin and they applied it to wounds.​
