CEW Sustainability Award Winner
We’re honored to be recognized by the CEW with this year’s Sustainability Excellence Award. The roots of our efforts go back to our key brand principles - that the world is interconnected and that business can be a force for good.
Last Friday (May 18th) Natura Brasil was named the winner of Cosmetic Executive Women’s (CEW) Excellence in Sustainability Award. It recognizes a beauty brand that seeks to reduce its environmental impact and has moved further toward the goal of sustainability in multiple facets of its business.
The CEW Beauty Awards are one of the industry’s highest honors and have recognized the most innovative beauty products and brands for more than 20 years.
The Sustainability category was judged by a panel of experts and CEW board members looking for measurable changes in the way a brand helps reduce or eliminate the following:
1) the build-up of substances from the Earth’s surface,
2) accumulated substances produced by society,
3) the physical degradation of nature, and
4) conditions that undermine people’s capacity to meet their basic human needs.
The event was held in partnership with the New York Times, and attracted more than 1,200 industry insiders.
Our winning philosophy

These are some of our accomplishments and principles that were recognized by the award:
✿ 83% of our ingredients are made of renewable vegetal origin. Natura invests in developing raw materials from social biodiversity.
✿ We work directly with 2,846 supplier families throughout Brazil to source biologically diverse ingredients and help these families build a sustainable model without cutting down the (Read more about our sustainable model here.) In doing so, we helped conserve 635,060 acres of the world’s most important rainforest.
✿ We monitor and limit water consumption in all operations and reduce and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions throughout the chain.
✿ Our U.S. packaging uses 100% post-consumer recycled plastic (PET) or Green PE (sugarcane-based) and some products are offered with refill options.
✿ Natura’s sustainability, long-term vision, and short-term goals are detailed and communicated in Natura’s annual report and internal workshops. Success is measured by indexes that are assessed, published and independently audited annually.
We would like to thank the team at CEW for the recognition. Natura has regularly been named one of the world’s most sustainable brands and received the United Nations Champions of the Earth Award in 2015 and it is a great honor to be recognized by the CEW in our first year of operation in the U.S.
