Ready to Samba?

Check out our playlist and enjoy the Carnaval yourself!

  • By Tania Menai

Music is one of the most important aspects of Brazilian Carnaval. Depending on what city you land in, you will dive into different rhythms, costumes, and traditions. You'll hear music coming out from instruments you may never have seen before, like "surdo" and "agogô". Samba is played with percussion instruments (surdo drums, big drums, cuíca drums, tambourines, rattles, etc.) and accompanied by other instruments such as regular and small guitars, and the flute. The songs have various themes but mainly talk about day to day life and struggles. Check out our Spotify playlist and enjoy different Carnaval rhythms and sounds. Bom Carnaval!
