10 COMMANDMENTS FOR BEAUTIFUL HAIR
- By Natura Team
Having beautiful hair is every woman's dream. To keep hair shiny, strong and supple, like those seen in magazines, it is necessary to adopt simple and effective methods, whether for washing or styling.
To help you in this SOS hair mission, the dermatologist Carolina Reaton Marçon and the wonderful hairdresser of Natura Brasil, Gui Cassolari, have written the 10 commandments for healthy hair, which we present to you here.
Your diet acts directly on the health of your hair and scalp. Eat fruits and vegetables daily to help restore vitamins and minerals, the dermatologist says. “In addition to helping keep a body in good shape and healthy, a healthy and balanced diet also helps you to have strong, beautiful and shiny hair. "
2 - HOT WATER, DAMAGED HAIR
A hot bath can be relaxing for the body, but it is extremely bad for the hair. The temperature increases the secretion of sebum in the scalp, facilitating seborrhea and increasing hair loss.
Carolina adds that "the warm water eliminates the layer that provides hydration and natural protection of the hair, and leaves it dry, dull and with frizz". So the ideal is to wash your hair with lukewarm water. And when you take a hot bath in the winter, don't drown yourself in hot water.
3 - FOAM AT-WILL, NOT NECESSARILY
Certain gestures during washing also contribute to hair health. "Have a light hand on the shampoo and don't put it directly on the head. Distribute it between your hands and then apply it to the hair with your fingertips and never with your nails”, teaches the dermatologist.
4 - untangle to avoid breaking
Combing with the wrong accessory is one of the main reasons for brittle hair. To avoid this situation, Gui Cassolari advises "to detangle hair in the shower using a conditioner and a comb with wide teeth." The expert specifies that this is an essential gesture when you have fragile and sensitized hair because it helps reduce hair loss.
5 - REPAIRING HYDRATION
If you are using specific skincare products to meet the needs of your hair, then you are well on your way to healthy hair. Skincare masks are perfect for those who want to nourish their hair deeply in just a few minutes.
6 - BEAUTIFUL AND SCULPTED
Do not abuse the hair dryer, straightening iron or curling iron, it damages the hair. And it's no secret to anyone. Improper use of these devices can dehydrate, burn, or even break hair. To make no mistake, before modeling your hair, remove all excess water with a towel, without rubbing. "Never put the nozzle of the hairdryer directly on the hair and always dry it thoroughly before passing the straightening iron or the curling iron," says the hairdresser of Natura Brasil.
7 - CHEMICALS ON HEALTHY HAIR
Chemicals can change the texture and color of hair. But the more radical the change, the greater the damage. "The best thing is to choose a style that doesn't stray too far from the natural structure of your hair and color that comes closest to your natural shade. This will minimize damage to the hair”, says the dermatologist. "If you opt for smoothing gradually, space the sessions at least six months each time."
8 - GOOD HAIRDRESSING
Varying the way you tie your hair is a real treat and a good idea to change your look. But when getting into your thirty-one, certain precautions are necessary. Gui Cassolari advises using crocodile clips or fabric elastics, accessories that cause less friction on the hair.
“Tight braids, ponytails, and tight buns can damage hair. The traction that these hairstyles cause, mainly when it is continuous and frequent, can create enough tension to break the hair or lead to traction alopecia [hair loss]”, explains Carolina.
9 - WEATHER FORECAST
Adapting hair care to the climate is a smart decision. On warmer days, protect your hair from the sun by wearing a hat and keep hair well hydrated. “Avoid air conditioning because it dries out the hair and makes it more fragile; they then lose all their shine”, advises the dermatologist.
10 - ADVICE FROM THE EXPERT, NOT FRIENDS
We all know at least one disastrous story about an attempted haircut or chemical treatment at home. For more radical changes, always consult a specialist. This also applies if you notice anything unusual on your hair or on the scalp.
"Ideally, ask an expert to make a diagnosis, which will identify the reasons for these changes and tell you the right treatment to follow. There are often hormonal or metabolic changes that need to be controlled for hair to grow healthy, Carolina concludes.
